GROW ROOM CLEANING

Sanitizing your grow space is crucial for maintaining a clean and healthy environment. Using Safrax® Chlorine Dioxide is the most effective method for thorough disinfection, as it combines surface cleaning with the power of high-concentration chlorine dioxide gas.

Grow
Room
Cleaning

For Use in Foot Baths

Add 2 tablets to 5 gallons of water for a concentration of 100 to 500 PPM.

Non-Porous Surfaces

For general surfaces prepare spray at 100 to 500 PPM. Allow the mixture to air dry, no need to wipe down surfaces.

To Sanitize Fans, HVAC, and Air Exchangers

When gassing an area, cycle fans, HVAC and air exchangers. For Mini-Splits mix 1 tablet in 32 Oz spray bottle for a 100 PPM solution. Turn Fan down to low and spray directly where buildup is present.

To Clean Employee Common Areas

100 to 500 PPM as a replacement for bleach or isopropyl alcohol. Spray and let air dry.

Odor Removal

For 100Cu ft or less (closet or tent) gas at 20 tablets to 2 oz of water for 6 to 24 hours in an enclosed area. Allow for 30 minutes or longer for air-out after treatment, depending on ventilation/air flow.

Carbon and RO Filters

Pre-clean at 3 PPM. Anything over 40 PPM with reduce the effectiveness of the filter.

PREPARATION

CLO2 GAS ACTIVATION

AIR OUT

PREPARATION

  • Remove any plants.
  • Open all compartments, cabinets, cupboards, and
  • drawers.
  • Place a receptacle like a plastic bucket in the middle of the space.
  • Close blinds, or block windows, if any (UV light degrades ClO2).
  • Ensure all exterior doors, windows and air vents are closed/sealed before activating the gas.

CLO2 GAS ACTIVATION

  • Treat the grow areas at 1 tablet per 100 ft³, using 2 oz of water per 10 tablets. Add tablets slowly.
  • Avoid inhaling the vapor; wearing a respirator is recommended. Leave the area quickly, close the door, and keep people and pets out during treatment, as ClO₂ gas can irritate the respiratory system.
  • Treat for a minimum of 6 hours, up to 24 hours.
  • During treatment time, cycle fans, HVAC and air exchangers.

FOR USE IN FOOT BATHS

  • Open windows and doors, run ventilation systems, and allow 30 minutes to several hours for airing out, depending on airflow.
  • Porous materials may retain a chlorine-like smell for hours or days, but it is non-toxic and harmless.
  • Our ClO2 gas application does not require any rinsing or wiping.
  • Dispose of leftover concentrate in the toilet or drain; the white residue is harmless salt.

IRRIGATION
SYSTEM
SANITATION

IRRIGATION SYSTEM SANITATION

Maintaining a clean irrigation system is essential for preventing biofilm buildup and ensuring the health of your crops. Safrax® Chlorine Dioxide provides an effective solution by eliminating contaminants and disinfecting the entire system, from pipes to emitters.

Incoming Water Lines

Treat with ClO2 injection at 1 PPM.

Injection Systems

Run with nutrients up to 1 PPM.

Water Tanks

Treat at 1 PPM, which will in turn will keep feed reservoirs clean and free of mold, slime and algae.

Water Reservoirs

Slowly add tablets to reservoirs at 1 PPM. Add tablets directly to the reservoir AFTER mixing in nutrients (mixing before will pre-release the ClO2 from the water).

Irrigation Lines

Flush between grow cycles at 50-100 PPM to eliminate biofilm build up without causing micro abrasions to the inner diameter of the lines.

Verifying Chlorine Dioxide Levels

Use test strips to ensure a 1 PPM concentration at critical points such as emitter hoses, mist nozzles, and drip tubes.

Growth phase Treatment

During the growth phase of cannabis, maintaining a clean and sterile environment is vital for optimal plant development and disease prevention. Using Safrax® Chlorine Dioxide helps to eliminate pathogens, odors, and contaminants that can affect plant health.

Growth phase Treatment

Treatment for Hydroponics/Bubble Cloners

  • Treats/Controls/Inhibits: Algae (Phormidium boneri), Penicillium digitatum, Botrytis sp., Fusarium solani, Pythium aphanidermatum, Pythium irregulare, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. basilici.
  • Application Rate: Apply at 3 PPM.

Powdery Mildew

  • If Powdery Mildew is Present: For an effective treatment, use at a concentration of 50 PPM (2 tablets per gallon of water) and spray directly on the entire plant. Combine this with low-level gas emission. Note: UV light reduces the effectiveness of ClO₂.
  • Safrax® Slow Release ClO₂: For continuous treatment, hang one humidity-activated sachet per 2000 ft³. Replace the sachet every 30 days for optimal results.

Propagation-Vegetative-Flowering

  • Dipping Cuttings to Prevent Disease: Submerge cuttings in a 5 PPM solution and allow them to air dry naturally.
  • Sanitizing Coco Clone Cubes and Coco Pre-Filled Bags: Treat coco cubes at 5 PPM for 10 minutes. When inflating coco pre-filled bags, treat at 5 PPM. Allow 24 hours before planting clones into the bags. A respirator may be needed if gas from the bags irritates the nose, eyes, or throat.
  • Preventative Treatment: For ongoing protection, spray a 10 PPM solution once a week using a garden sprayer or fine mist. Apply to the surface of pots, tables, walls, fans, and floors to prevent pathogen buildup.

Integrated Pest Management

  • Preventative Treatment: Spray at 5 PPM directly on the plants, covering all areas from the substrate to the top. Turn off the lights during application, but there is no need to turn off dehumidifiers or HVAC. For best results, use daily as a preventative measure: “5 PPM a day keeps problems away.”

Harvest Best Practices

Harvest Best Practices

During the cannabis harvest, proper handling and sanitation are crucial to preserving the quality and potency of the crop. Using Safrax® to sanitize tools and surfaces helps prevent contamination, while careful trimming, controlled drying, and curing ensure optimal flavor, aroma, and strength.

Harvest protocol

Deep Cleaning
  • Sanitize Tools: Prepare a solution at 500 PPM (20 tablets per gallon of water). Soak tools for 1 minute, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Sanitize Surfaces: For tables, harvest equipment, pot tops, and any contact surfaces, prepare a 100 PPM solution (4 tablets per gallon of water). Spray the surfaces and allow them to air dry—no wiping required.
WET TRIM METHOD
  • Use a Safrax® Chlorine Dioxide Solution at 50 PPM to mist finished buds. Apply a fine, even mist to the entire bud using an atomizer or fine spray nozzle for enhanced protection against yeast and mold.
DRYROOM TREATMENT
  • Day 1 & 2: Dissolve 200 tablets in 2 cups of water in a 5-gallon bucket to treat 2,500 ft³. If treating a larger space, use multiple buckets, ensuring no more than 250 tablets per bucket. Add tablets gradually.
  • Day 3: Use 100 tablets dissolved in 1 cup of water.
  • After Treatment: Allow the area to dry normally.

Post-Harvest Protection

After harvesting cannabis, maintaining proper post-harvest practices is essential to preserve quality and potency. Controlled drying and curing environments help retain flavor, aroma, and cannabinoid profiles, while regular monitoring ensures optimal moisture levels and prevents contamination.

Post-Harvest Protection

Remediation Strategies for Finished Product

  • Calculate Dosage: Determine the total volume of the treatment space in cubic feet. Use 1 tablet per 100 ft³ for a 24-hour treatment. Arrange buds on a dry rack or net within an enclosed area.
  • Treatment: Utilize gas treatment to remediate yeast and mold issues. Note that this method is ineffective against Botrytis (bud rot).

Maintaining Stored Cannabis Flower

  • Application: Use Safrax® SLOW RELEASE-CLO₂ sachets to maintain flower quality and eliminate pathogens. Place a sachet in a sealed container with up to 10 lbs of flower for 24 hours, then remove. Repeat as necessary.
  • Prevention: Store cured, dried flower with Safrax® SLOW RELEASE-CLO₂ sachets to prevent the growth and multiplication of yeast and mold CFUs.
